Welcome to Module 1! In this module you will learn about definitions of human rights, characteristics and principles of human rights, international human rights instruments and their respective treaty monitoring bodies. You will also be introduced to the Universal Periodic Review Process (UPR) and how to use it to advance sexual reproductive health and rights as well as ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG).

Welcome to module 2. In this module, you will learn about African Union (AU) human rights instruments: what they are; the procedures for their adoption, entry into force and ratification by member states; and mechanisms for ensuring their implementation. You will also learn about how the human rights of women, girls and other vulnerable groups in the continent are addressed in the AU human rights instruments.

Welcome to module 3!

This modules introduces you to the procedures and requirements for obtaining observer status. It further outlines the obligations and benefits of being granted Observer Status of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) and the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights (ACHPR).

In addition, you will receive information on a practical set of tools and advocacy strategies to use in pursuit of accountability and redress for injustices and inequalities for women and girls, and other vulnerable groups.

In this module, you will learn about the opportunities for knowledge and information exchange that civil society organizations (CSOs) can use to share experiences and advocate for accountability in relation to ratification and implementation of the African Union (AU) human rights instruments.

Welcome to module 6! This module introduces you to the process of monitoring, documenting and reporting human rights violations, tools for human rights monitoring, data collection, organizing, and analyzing data, preparation and submission of shadow reports to the African Human Rights Mechanisms.
